Do you love understanding the origins of life? Were you the kid who made the erupting volcano as a science project and thought dissecting sheep hearts was your idea of a wicked good time? Are you also driven to take your knowledge and your passion and invigorate whole new generations of students to love biology the same way you do?

Biology Education is an exciting field that combines a love for science with a passion for teaching children of all ages. It demands both an analytical mind and a keen awareness and understanding of how to work with young people.

Students interested in Biology Education majors should take courses in as many sciences as possible, including biology, chemistry and physics. Courses in advanced mathematics will also be helpful, as will any experiences working with young people, such as counseling, mentoring or tutoring.

Biology Education majors generally go into public education, but they can also work towards teaching at the college level. BE majors can also work as researchers at universities or contributors to textbook companies.
