Operations management majors use their creative problem-solving skills to come up with solutions to various production problems. In addition, they oversee the development, production, and manufacturing of products and services for an organization. In essence, directing and controlling all processes within an organization from purchasing raw materials to delivering the final product. Courses such as inventory management, managerial accounting, marketing and logistics, operations analysis, and product development will help develop your perceptual and analytical skills. Graduates land positions such as production supervisor, quality control specialist, administrator, operations manager, buyer, supply change consultant and logistics manager. Opportunities include financial institutions, manufacturing and retail as well as service industries and the public sector.

Henry Ford’s success came, not from his innovations in the automobile, but in the innovations of production, including conveyor belts to increase production, and creating a manufacturing plant where the processing of raw materials and final products (the automobile) were produced in one place.
