If you’re one of those people who must know how things work, and you also have a love for computers, then Computer Engineering may be right for you. CE majors are like the car mechanics of the modern era, they study the way computers operate, how they are constructed, and how to make them more efficient and productive. CE majors are intelligent problem solvers who bring their skills to a variety of industries.

CE majors will study advanced calculus, computer architecture, digital-logic design, systems programming and various computer languages. Many CE majors pick a particular area of emphasis, such as software, hardware, or game design.

Important classes in high school include calculus, geometry, physics and any computer courses. Classes in electronics and programming languages will definitely be a plus.

CE majors look for work in all aspects of the modern economy, and are often hired by companies specializing in computer technology (Microsoft, Google, etc.), computer security, robotics, or in industries in which computers play a key role, such as aeronautics or communications.
