The focus of environmental studies is the interaction of humans with the environment, specifically on coming up with ideas to live on the planet without destroying it. Graduates who major in environmental studies are passionate about the outdoors, and care about conserving its resources. You’ll be well versed in topics like climate change, renewable energy, and biodiversity. You’ll study how we caused some of the environmental problems in existence, and how, as a society, we may able to reverse them.

Courses include ecology and society, environmental philosophy, environmental policy, economics of natural resources, statistics, and environmental analysis. You’ll also choose a specialty: environmental policy and law, renewable energy, or urban planning. Work options are just as varied: many grads find employment as community organizers, park rangers, educators, and preservationists.
