Do you love the past as much as the present? Do you get excited by the events, places and people who came before us? Do you wish to share your love of history with young people, to make a difference in their lives by helping them understand their place in the history of the world? Then a History Education major is what you’re after.

History Education majors study numerous fields of history, such as American history, European history, history of Asia, and even take courses such as the History of Religion. HE majors are focus intensely on how children learn, developmental psychology, classroom management, educational theory and classroom assessment strategies.

Important classes in high school include US history, Greek and Roman history, western civilization, and AP English. Also helpful will be foreign language study and any extra-curricular activities that involve working with young people, such as youth coaching or camp counseling.

History Education majors generally seek work as educators in public school districts, primarily in middle and high school. History Education majors can also continue their education and find employment as college professors and school administrators.
