    The Hawkeye State is home to around 60 colleges and universities. These institutions include two research universities, nine master’s universities, and 19 baccalaureate colleges, as well as 21 associate’s colleges. Many of the top colleges in the state are located in the cities of Iowa City, Waterloo, Davenport, and Dubuque. The state has three public universities - the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and University of Northern Iowa. However, the list of private universities is much longer, with over thirty choices including Drake University, Dordt College, and Simpson College. There are about 20 options for community colleges scattered throughout the state, including Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, and Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux Falls.
