Warning The metal accents on newer cars are usually plastic -- only use these tips on real chrome. Step 1: Wash the area Wash the rusted area with mild soap and water. Step 2: Cut the foil Cut squares of aluminum foil. Step 3: Wet the foil Wet the foil with cola and crumple it -- shiny side out -- into a ball. Tip Water will work if you don't have any cola -- just scrub harder. Step 4: Rub the surface Rub the surface in a circular motion. The chemical reaction between the aluminum, cola, and chrome will result in a brown polish. Step 5: Wipe off the polish Wipe off the polish with paper towels. Step 6: Protect the surface Apply chrome polish to protect the surface from future rust spots. Did You Know? Reynolds Metals, founded by Richard S. Reynolds, introduced Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil in 1947.
