Second place winner in Howcast's How-To Video Challenge by filmmaker Anthony Redendo. http://www.howcast.com/videochallenge To complete this How-To you will need: A camera A tripod A car A editing software Step 1: Set up your camera First, set up your camera on a tripod on the side of your street. Step 2: Film a car Then, wait for a car to come by. You can have some other people in the foreground to make it look more realistic. Step 3: Film the person Now it's time for the person to get hit. All they have to do is run out in front of the street when no cars are coming. What we did was set out a hat so the person looked like they were running for a reason. Step 4: Edit clips with software Once you're done filming, upload it to your computer and open up your editing software. What you want to do is put the clips on top of each other and turn the opacity down so you can see both of them at the same time. Then line the clips up so the car will hit the person you want it to. Step 5: Cut out a picture Now zoom in to when you want the person to get hit and use the pen tool to cut out a picture of them. Once you're done, you'll see that the car looks like it's going to hit the person. Step 6: Set a key frame Now set a key frame and move the person with the car for each frame. After that, you'll see that the car moves with the person. Step 7: Rotate and blur the person Now just rotate and blur the person so it looks more realistic. So that's pretty much it. Warning: One more thing, be careful doing this. Just because it's filming, doesn't mean you can't get hurt. Thanks for watching How To Stage a Hit-and-Run Using Special Effects!
