Steve Omohundro is an American physisist and computer scientist.He is the president of Self-Aware Systems, a company which is developing a new kind of semantic software technology.a new kind of software that can re-program itself. Steve is the co-author of programming languages Star Lisp and Sather, wrote the 3D-graphics system for Mathematica. He was a computer science professor at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and cofounded the Center for Complex Systems Research. He has worked on new neural networks techniques, machine learning algorithms and has built systems which learn to read lips, control robots, induce grammars and search in digital picture databases.In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
