TEDxWasedaU - Christopher Pokarier - Know Thy Comparative Advantage

'Do what you can do best, even though others can do it better.' By applying the national economic principle of comparative advantage to the personal level, Dr. Pokarier shared in this talk an extremely liberating idea about the meaning of personal development and leadership. Christopher Pokarier is currently professor of business and governance in the School of International Liberal Studies at Waseda University & also serves as Councillor to Waseda's international affairs office. His research pursuits are distinctive in bringing together economics, business, political science and history perspectives in relation to topical issues such as nationalism, border regimes, mobility, nation and place branding, spaces of disaster, and structures and strategies in universities. Dr Pokarier's teaching pertains to the creative and cultural industries, comparative capitalisms, and communication design.In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
