Sharing Decisions to Achieve Greatness: Laura Schenasi at TEDxSoCal

Laura Schenasi is Executive Vice President of the Torrance Memorial Health Care Foundation, a nonprofit corporation created to develop and increase funding sources for the exclusive benefit of Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Schenasi joined Torrance Memorial in 2001 and has directed a development team to successfully increase fundraising from $750,000/year to an average of $17+ million/year in cash and pledges. Prior to joining Torrance Memorial, Schenasi served as Director of Major Gifts for the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. It was here she discovered her passion for healthcare fundraising, and she spent 19 years at USC. She also earned her bachelor's degree at USC's Annenberg School of Communication.A popular public speaker, Schenasi has also received many honors including Staff Member of the Year from the USC School of Law. Her leadership, service, and achievement to the University was honored with the USC Widney Alumni House award, and she was among the named South Bay Women of the Year by the Switzer Learning Center.In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
