Student Engagement and Project Based Learning: Michelle Beatty at TEDxMCPSTeachers

Michelle Beatty has been at the Willard Alternative High School Program for 10 years in Missoula, Mont., where she currently teaches mathematics and a different elective each trimester, from early childhood education to weight training. She finished her master's degree at the University of Montana in 2011 and serves as a department chair at Willard School. Michelle thoroughly enjoys working with alternative students and singing with them at Willard's graduation celebration. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
