Using Social Media to Drive Your Social Revolution: Juan Escalante at TEDxFSU

Juan Escalante is a recent graduate from Florida State University. He is the Communications Director at www.DreamActivist.org, an organization that aids undocumented students in finding resources to achieve their dreams. He currently manages several social networks for various pro-migrant organizations across the United States. Additionally, he trains youth on how to properly speak to the media for interviews. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Escalante is the first in his family to graduate from an American university. His hopes are that his brothers can follow in his footsteps.In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
