TEDxSheffield 2012 - David Cotterrell - How I almost lost my faith in photography

David is an installation artist working with video, interactive media, artificial intelligence, device control and hybrid technology. His work exhibits political, social and behavioural analyses of the environments and contexts he inhabits. Work has been commissioned internationally for gallery spaces, museums and the public realm. Recent exhibitions include: Eastern Standard: Western Artists in China, MASS MoCA, Massachusetts; War and Medicine, Wellcome Collection, London, Map Games, Today Museum of Modern Art, Beijing and Monsters of the Id at the John Hansard Gallery, Southampton. In 2007, David was commissioned by the Wellcome Trust to travel to Helmand Province, where he spent a month with the Joint Forces Medical Group and the Combat Medical Technicians of 40 Commando. In 2008, he returned as a civilian to Afghanistan with support from the RSA and in 2009, the Department of Health enabled him to document the continuing care pathway at Selly Oak and Headley Court.David is Professor of Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. He received the Philip Leverhulme Prize for Research in 2009 and is represented by Danielle Arnaud, London.http://www.cotterrell.com
