Dave Spandorfer is the co-founder of Janji (www.RunJanji.com), a new running apparel brand that gives back. Janji, which means "promise" in Malay, was founded by Dave and his college track teammate Mike Burnstein as a way to connect runners around the country to help solve the food and water crisis—a crisis that affects over one billion people each year and costs the life of one child every six seconds. Each piece of Janji apparel gives directly back to those who need it most. Shorts and shirts are modeled after a country's flag and a portion of the proceeds benefit that country's unique food or water need. Janji is currently available in select cities and is officially launching at Bryn Mawr Running Company on June 7th. Janji apparel will be available online starting June 15th and in running stores from Anchorage, Alaska to Boca Raton, Florida starting August 1st.Dave graduated Lower Merion High School in 2007 and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2011 with degrees in History and International Business. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
