TEDxThessaloniki - Marcie Mayer - Think differently and make a difference

Environmental activist and entrepreneur Marcie Mayer, gives a passionate talk about Hamada Acorn Initiative, a project that aims to restore acorn as an important product for the local economy of Kea. She crowdsourced the initial funding for her Eating Acorns project on Kickstarter, where the campaign made its funding goal only within few days, and this year 40 families participated in the first large scale harvest of acorn caps since 1965. Marcie Mayer argues that it's in our hands to have planned, balanced and sustainable uses for land. She suggests that we should see crisis as an opportunity for positive change. All we need is planning, adaptability, acceptance and to search for the lesson, in each experience. These are the keys to face any setback. About TEDx:In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
