TEDxHultBusinessSchoolSF - Nikhil Arora - Turning Garbage into Gourmet Food

Nikhil Arora and co-founder, Alejandro Velez, of Back to the Roots were headed into the corporate world during their last semester at UC Berkeley in 2009 when they came across their idea in class a few months before graduation: Turning garbage into gourmet food, . They fell in love with the waste-to-food model and decided to forego careers in investment banking and consulting to become full-time urban mushroom farmers! Alejandro and Nikhil are working to build a movement that can connect everyone with their food again—green thumb or not!In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
