TEDxEmbryRiddle - Parv Patel - The Future of Asteroid Exploration

At only 20 years of age Parv has earned his reputation as the "in-house scientist" of Embry-Riddle. He has published a research paper on small body gravity field approximation methods, and is currently working on another on the sensitivity analysis for the touchdown of NASA's OSIRIS-REx on asteroid 1999 RQ36. Also, has worked as an simulation test engineer intern at Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., and will have completed his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering with a dual concentration in Astronautics and Propulsion by the year end. His short term goals include pursuing a masters in Astrodynamics, and to complete a PhD by the age of 25. Parv firmly believes that the answers to some of the most intriguing questions mankind has put forth lies in understanding asteroids and planetoids. He spends a great deal of time "awakening the space cadets" of our generation by volunteering in science camps and providing his expertise as a teaching assistant at Embry-Riddle. Amongst many other hobbies he enjoys playing the guitar, studying astronomy and star gazing. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
