Building Vertical Cities: Daniel Winey at TEDxConnecticutCollege

Dan Winey is the Chairman of the global architecture and design firm Gensler, a painter, would-be golf pro, and an evangelist for Vertical Cities. Dan believes that urban design is the single-most important influencer of the human experience, achieving its greatest potential in developing economies. He has collaborated with the leaders of many countries in Asia to develop the "Glocal" dialogue --preserving local historic character and culture while concentrating density in vertical city centers. An architect with a passion for livable communities, Dan believes that sustainability is not an option, but a prerequisite for survival. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
