Courage Through Creativity: Susan Russell Hall at TEDxTacoma

Susan Russell Hall has been painting and exhibiting art since 1977 and doing medical drawings since 1979. She works mainly in the encaustic medium, which originated in Egypt more than 2,000 years ago. It is a time-consuming process in which hot beeswax and pigments are applied to a prepared, reinforced wooden board in multiple layers. The beeswax is applied as a hot liquid and the entire surface is heated with a propane torch allowing her to "paint with fire." Every painting is unique and truly one-of-a-kind.About TEDx, x = independently organized eventIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
