Sounding A Victorian Future: Aleks Kolkowski at TEDxImperialCollege

The noise, hiss and clatter of steam-powered machines; looms; hydraulic presses and electric telegraphs, including original recordings made by Aleks Kolkowski in the Science Museum, are reproduced using authentic late-Victorian and Edwardian wax cylinder phonographs, wind-up gramophones and a plethora of antique horns. In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
