Derek Anderson is an associate professor of education at Northern Michigan University. For 10 years, he taught social studies, math, and English at Bothwell Middle School. In addition, he coached a variety of sports, leading the Marquette Senior High School ski teams to 11 state championships. He earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership, Curriculum, and Instruction from Central Michigan University in 2006. Since starting at NMU in 2006, he has published 18 peer-reviewed articles and has presented 13 research papers at national or international conferences. Derek lives in Marquette with wife, Stephanie, who is a 4th-grade teacher, and their two sons, Lars (7) and Bjorn (4).
