Mr. Toy is a pioneer in LGBT activism and education, having been a part of the Lesbian-Gay Male Programs Office at the University of Michigan for 23 years. He holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Michigan and is today a member of the Multicultural and Gender Affairs Committee. Mr. Toy has dedicated his life to defying old institutions of prejudice and discrimination, transforming the way that we think of an individual.About TEDx, x = independently organized eventIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
