Stories are powerless without the audience. Drawing his inspiration from U2, Dan Oshinsky shows us that even simple messages can resonate throughout the world with the right amplification and with the right people to hear it. Dan is a reporter, entrepreneur, lover of start-ups, frequent troublemaker and creator of awesome stuff. He also really likes stories. His current focus is Stry [pronounced STOHR-ee], a nimble news organization founded in 2010. He's also the creator of BooksAround, a social literacy experiment, and Very Quotatious, a site for inspiration, thought and other wisdom suitable for quotation. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
