TEDxCentralSaintMartins - Nadia Berthouze - What our Bodies can Teach Computers

Nadia Berthouze is a Senior Lecturer in the UCL Interaction Centre at the University College London. The premise of her research is that emotion and subjective experience should be factored in the design of interactive technology to address the needs of each user group or even those of each individual. Her aim is to create technology that can sense its user's emotional state and use that information to tailor the interaction process. She focuses on body movement as a medium to induce, recognize, and measure the quality of experience of humans interacting and engaging with/through whole-body technology. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
