TEDxThapaeGate - Weerapong Prasongchean - STEMkids project for high schools in Thailand

Weerapong Prasongchean is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, UK. He focuses on somatic stem cells from different sources for regenerative medicine. He also holds an MSc in Neuroscience from Imperial College London School of Medicine supported by a Thai Government Strategic Frontier Research Network Scholarship and graduated with a BSc in Pharmacy from Chulalongkorn University supported by the GMM Grammy-associated Damrongchaitham foundation. He was awarded several awards including the Thailand National Youth award (Academy and Education), the Damrongchaitham foundation best scholar award and the UK-based Anglo-Thai Society Educational Excellence award (Medicine). His current initiatives involve development of stem cell-based cross-curricular learning in high schools and regenerative pharmacy for pharmaceutical education. His talk on "STEMkids project for high schools in Thailand" focused on how an understanding of stem cells can lead to better public and personal health and can be an innovative marketing tool to encourage students and their parents to change behaviours to lead a healthier life.
