TEDxEdmonton - Meagan Kelly - Discovering Beauty in a Dump

Meagan Kelly is a journalist and filmmaker with a mission to cultivate compassion in others. Her directorial debut film, Grace, shares the story of one young girl's struggle to escape poverty on a garbage dump in the Philippines. The film won 'Best Short Documentary' at the 2011 Monaco Charity Film Festival, and is an official selection for the 8th annual Artivist Film Festival in Los Angeles. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
