As a young, successful and popular techie @IanForrester was loving life. He had a great job working in BBC R&D and was spending his spare time establishing events like Girl Geeks, BarCamp and the Thinking Digital Conference. In May 2009 this all came to a sudden unscheduled stop. Unbeknownst to anyone, Ian was slowly dying in his own bed suffering a slow hemorraage into his brain. He tells the dramatic story of his life, his brush with death and the road to recovery since then. TEDxManchester 2012 was co-curated by @herbkim & @misscroissant and hosted by Cornerhouse. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations).
