John Calvin is a folk singer/songwriter from Norman, OK. Originally from the mountains and now living on the plains, John often writes about the spaces in between, losing, winning, and getting lost. Currently recording his new EP with Travis Linville, he continues to write and perform in the Norman/OKC Metro area with his band, the Cavalry, along with many other projects that involve forays into jazz and garage. A raw, young voice layered upon the moving melodies of the harmonica and fingerpicked acoustic guitar are characteristic of his style, but it doesn't mean his songs don't get rowdy and upbeat. John's ability to show the audience that he is having just as much fun as they think he is having shines through with every performance. He graduated with a degree in anthropology from the University of Oklahoma and is now pursuing his music full-time, working on his upcoming release while performing weekly. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
