Michael Redhead Champagne, aka North End MC, describeshimself as "a 24-year-old Cree guy." Hailing fromShamattawa, Michael was born and raised in the NorthEnd of Winnipeg. By night, Michael organizes AYO!(Aboriginal Youth Opportunities)—a youth-led antigangorganization committed to breaking stereotypesand creating opportunities in the community. MC isalso active in the community serving on several boardsand committees, including North End CommunityRenewal Corporation, Mount Carmel Clinic, UnitedWay of Winnipeg's Aboriginal Relations Council, andthe 595 Prevention Teem Peer Secretariat.In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
