TEDxUWI C.R.I.M.E- Valerie Youssef- Knowing what you know

Prof. Youssef in a very frank and subtle manner explains the importance of examining the information that comes to you. She advocates the need to put information in context of the sources in which it is being shared. The Theme: Cultural Reality Imitated in a Mutual Environment Recently in Trinidad and Tobago, a constitutional State of Emergency has been declared to address the crime situation. The TEDxUWI team recognized that relevance is a vital factor and hence decided to focus on crime. Crime will be viewed different as part of the cumulative narrative of Trinidad and Tobago and its connective ability. The topics hence reflect different ideas on crime and the source of our ideas on crime TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos -- or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
