Elizabeth Shephard is the Chief Sustainability Officer at LifeCity, a membership-based organization that supports the development of green businesses and local events, while educating consumers about green products and services. ?Currently, Elizabeth is working with over 50 companies in Louisiana to help them leverage social and environmental responsibility in their business practices and connect them to other businesses and consumers in the local green economy. ?She serves on the Green Collaborative Steering Committee, the Keep New Orleans Beautiful Committee, and is a Lay Leader and Chair of the Caring for Creation Committee at Rayne Memorial Methodist Church. In this talk she discusses what it means to be green and how sustainable challenges allow for the greatest opportunities for innovation. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
