Getting our priorities straightTerry is Professor of Green Chemistry and Director of the Institute for Green Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He was born and educated in New Zealand, completing his Ph.D. at Auckland University and his post doctoral work at Stanford University. He is one of the founders of the field of Green Chemistry and is internationally recognized for his development of small molecule catalysts that activate natural oxidants to clean water of many pollutants and pathogens. He has been honored with an Environmental Protection Agency Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, the Heinz Award for the Environment, the Inaugural Kauffman Award of the Pittsburgh Foundation, the Pittsburgh Section Award of the American Chemistry Society, Japan's Society of Pure and Applied Coordination Chemistry Award and isan Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
