TEDxHarvardLaw - John Piotti - Can New England Feed Itself?

New England has seen a resurgence in local farming in the last decade, but will this trend continue? Can local farming grow to a level where our region supplies a substantial amount of our food needs? And even if it could, should it? In this session, John Piotti - who has been at the forefront of farming issues in Maine for over 15 years - will examine what is possible and what makes sense. He will outline what it would require of our eating habits and mean for our landscape and our economy if New England took major strides in this direction. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
