ISABEL KLOUMANNIsabel Kloumann explores the interplay between language and emotion by analyzing massive digital texts with a combination of human- and silicon-based supercomputers (see Amazon Mechanical Turk and the Vermont Advanced Computing Center). She is developing metrics for measuring happiness in digital human expressions, namely in Twitter data. She is a Ph.D. candidate at Cornell University, and an alumna of UVM's Dept. of Mathematics & Statistics and Dept. of Physics.About TEDxIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
