Dave began his career as an aerospace engineer. He worked on the Space Shuttle and the conceptual development team of the International Space Station. Over the years he's been a scientist, chief marketing officer, entrepreneur, CEO, product development specialist, software programmer and line manager for both small and large organizations. Just recently, Dave published his first book called Borrowing Brilliance: The Six Steps to Business Innovation by Building on the Ideas of Others. It's been a Wall Street Journal best seller and named by Inc Magazine as one of the Best Business Books of 2009. BusinessWeek called Dave's innovation process "one that actually seems to work." Dave's second book is being released in September and is called Plan B: How to Hatch a Second Plan that's Always Better than the First. It's about the implementation and evolution of an innovative idea. About TEDx: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
