The Unama'ki Economic Benefits Office represents the five First Nation communities in Cape Breton (Unama'ki), in Nova Scotia, Canada. They take a collaborative and business like approach to economic development and labour force development. Owen Fitzgerald is the executive director and former president of the local Chamber of Commerce. TEDxBrasd'Or took place on August 20, 2011 in Membertou, Nova Scotia. It was the first-ever TEDx event on Cape Breton Island. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
