TEDxHamburg Salon 2011 - Dr. Kai Sostmann - Self-determinedly healthy

Self-determinedly healthy - with help of the internet? At the centre, we have the emancipated patient who uses the internet as self-help source in order to diagnose a range of symptoms, from harmless headaches to chronic diseases. How does this flow of information exert itself onto the patient-physician relationship? Can a patient help himself to such an extent that he could avoid going to the doctor? In his talk, Dr. Kai Sostmann will explore the thin line between useful information and harmful repercussions for the health related behavior. About TEDx: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
