Speaker: Richard KrebsBorn and raised in Baltimore, the Rev. Dr. Richard Krebs studied the development of moral reasoning at the University of Chicago, doing graduate work under the direction of Lawrence Kohlberg, who established a new field within psychology: "moral development." Dr. Krebs has explored and extended the various notions of moral development in countless scholarly and media articles and four books, including the seminal work Creative Conflict. A former Associate Chief of the Sinai Hospital Psychiatry Department, and a psychotherapist and consultant in local private practice for over three decades, he was intimately involved in the effort to pilot trans-formative moral development programs for the incarcerated with President Jimmy Carter in the South, potentially re-shaping the whole of our thinking on the needs and purpose surrounding punishment and society. An undergrad at Gettysburg College, he earned a doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Chicago and also attended Divinity School there, concluding that work at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He resides in Carroll County.Host: Anthony McCarthyFor more than a decade McCarthy has been a constant voice in journalism, public policy circles, and Maryland's progressive faith community. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)Webcast and Videos produced by Open Range Video. http://www.openrangevideo.com/Webcasting&WebVideos.html
