TEDxSaltLakeCity - Kristin Peterson Brown - When Skipping School is Bad for Your Health

Kristin Peterson Brown, founder and President of Grow.Learn.Give, discusses the ongoing development process of creating a sustainable maturation and health education program for young girls in Africa and India. Kristin received a bachelor of science degree from Brigham Young University with a secondary teaching certificate for both biology and health. After nearly 20 years of raising a family, extensive church service and volunteer community and humanitarian work, she received a Masters of Public Health from Brigham Young University in 2008. Her graduate research focused on the barriers which keep girls from attending school in Uganda. Kristin is the founder and president of Grow.Learn.Give., a values-based, comprehensive health education program being implemented in Africa and India. Prior to founding Grow.Learn.Give., she was the executive director for Koins for Kenya. She is the mother of two amazing teens, keeper of dogs, sheep, alpacas, mules and goats, and wife to one very supportive husband. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
