TEDxLansing-Rose Cooper-Performance Guest

In her lifetime, Rose Cooper has been known by many names; names as diverse as her various interests... -As Rose "Bams" Cooper, she and her former 3BlackChicks Review partners co-authored the book 3 Black Chicks Review Flicks: A Film and Video Guide with Flava! (Amistad Press). -As "Midnight" Rose Cooper, she is an award-winning member (and Team Mom) of the Michigan State University Slam Poetry Team, and founder of the English Sijo Poetry Consortium of Lansing. -As Rose "Jangmi" Cooper, she is a 3rd-year Korean language student, and was the winner of the 4th Annual Gayoje (Korean Idol) at the Wharton Center in April 2011, singing "Bogo Sipda" ("I Miss You") entirely in Korean. Rose goes by other names as well. As the Assistant Manager of the MSU Academic Technology Services Help Desk, she has been called "Awesome Mac Geek" by clients and colleagues alike. In a series of articles published by the Lansing State Journal in late June 2010, columnist John Schneider called Rose "Lansing's 'Happy Singing Motorcycle Woman'". But the names she treasures being called most are "Wife" by her husband of 26 years, Michael, and "Mom" by her sons Jumbe and Kubwa. When she is not obsessively playing with her ever-growing collection of Buckyballs, Rose is seeking publication of her poetry collections Petals and Thorns, Many Voices, and Day After Yesterday, as well as singing on a semi-regular basis at The Exchange Club of Lansing. About TEDx, x = independently organized event: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) @TEDcLansing http://lcc/edu/tv/ @LCCTVTheLink
