TEDxUofM took place April 8th, 2011 at the historic Michigan Theater on the campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.Monica Ponce de Leon is Dean of the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan, a position she assumed in 2008. Ponce de Leon is a Venezuela-born architect, was a founding principal with Nader Tehrani of Office dA, and recently launched her own design practice. Ponce de Leon previously was a professor of architecture and the director of the Digital Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. About TEDx, x = independently organized eventIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
