TEDxMonterey - Monterey Institute - An Experiment in Cultivating Innovation

The Monterey Institute of International Studies was the host for this year's TEDxMonterey. With the theme of Cultivating innovation, the curators believed that in order to provide an environment of thought provoking ideas on how to cultivate innovation, they should make an attempt themselves. Maureen Fura, Andrew Santos, Caroline Kelley and Rebecca Walters give a unique talk on how the Monterey Institute cultivated innovation in the months leading up to TEDxMonterey. With an idea contest and three winning ideas, this TEDx talk captures their journey and the three winning pitches. This year's TEDxMonterey inspired and engaged the Monterey community with fascinating leaders, inventors, scientists, artists, community activists and global dreamers. With an all star line up of inspirational speakers the Monterey Institute of International Studies hosted the event on April 15th, 2011 and enjoyed participation from over 400 people both in person and online. The theme of this year's TEDxMonterey was Cultivating Innovation, which dazzled the audience through the themes of question, engage and transform. About TEDx, x = independently organized event??In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
