Alexander Scheeline talks about serendipity in research. Alexander Scheeline is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his B.S. in chemistry at Michigan State University and his Ph.D., also in chemistry, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After a post-doctoral appointment at NIST and a short stint at the University of Iowa, he has been at Illinois except for one year spent as a program officer at the National Science Foundation. His research interests focus on analytical chemistry, including optical spectroscopy, instrumentation development, nonlinear dynamics, and microsensors.
