Dr. Abraham was born in Northern Ireland in 1947. He is currently the Albert Cook Outler Professor of Wesley Studies at Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Educated at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen and Queen's University, Belfast, Abraham went on to receive a Master of Divinity Degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky and a doctorate in Philosophy of Religion from the University of Oxford, England. In 2003 he was appointed as Altshuler University Distinguished Teacher at SMU.Abraham works as a philosophical and systematic theologian in the Wesleyan tradition. His interests range across the whole spectrum of issues that link philosophy and theology. He has done significant innovate work in the epistemology of theology and in systematic theology; more recently he has developed a keen interest in the intersection between theology and politics, finishing a manuscript on theology and terrorism for a general audience.About TEDx, x = independently organized eventIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
