TEDxTucson - Dave Follette - Solar Energy At The Gigawatt Scale

In this talk, Dave Follette discusses an incredible new technology for harnessing solar power using a mirror array system to create gigawatt scale energy production. Dave is the first employee of REhnu, LLC a spinoff from the University of Arizona, with the specific mission of commercializing solar power at a cost competitive with fossil fuels. Dave is a recent graduate of MIT's Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) program, which combines an M.S. in mechanical engineering with an MBA from the Sloan School of Management. Prior to graduate school, Dave worked at another clean energy startup, ISE Corp in San Diego, and led the team that developed and built the twenty fuel cell buses used in the 2010 Winter Olympics. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxTucson, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxTucson event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combined to spark deep discussion and connection about sustainability. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
