TEDxGrandValley - Brett Colley - The Art of Un-Suspending Disbelief

BFA (Art & Design), GVSU, 1991; MFA (Studio Art), University of Iowa, 1994. Brett Colley is an Associate Professor in Art & Design, where he teaches drawing, printmaking, and Senior Seminar. His drawings, prints, and paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally in over 25 states and 7 countries, including the recent installation, "Land of Riches", at the old Grand Rapids public museum. In Winter 2009 Colley's sabbatical project - "Indefinite Suspension: One Artist's Consideration of Sustainable Culture"- was approved, permitting a year's leave to study eco-justice education, sustainable studio practices, and the relationship of art and activism.http://www.tedxgrandvalley.comAbout TEDx, x = independently organized eventIn the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
