TEDxYouthGreaterNashville: Zack Hood: Hope Through Sports- the Story of Sports

As a senior at Vanderbilt University, Zac Hood got his first glimpse of a world very different than the one he knew in Nashville, Tennessee. Fueled by that initial trip to Belize and his passion for sports, youth, and serving the poor, Zac founded Sports Servants. Last Spring Zac won a state championship coaching the Big Red tennis team at Montgomery Bell Academy, but decided to leave his role at MBA to grow the movement of Sports Servants. Zac works year-round on the programs, administration, fundraising, and volunteer preparation for the organization that aims at empowering children and transforming communities through sports. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouthGreaterNashville, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouthGreaterNashville event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
