[email protected] Max Webster: Climate refugees: World on the Run

Max Webster is a junior at Yale College majoring in political science with a focus on environmental law and politics. A member of Yale's debate team, Webster has won numerous national awards for debate and public speaking. His interest in the plight of climate refugees was spurred by his experience with Hurricane Katrina when he and his family were forced to relocate from their home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to Nashville, Tennessee, where he attended Montgomery Bell Academy for high school. After working with several island states and low-lying areas worldwide, Webster is committed to finding safety and security of basic human rights for an estimated 200 million+ climate refugees. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called [email protected], where x = independently organized TED event. At our [email protected] event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
