TEDxSanAntonio - Stephen Colley - Constructing with Innovation and Indigenous Materials

Speaker: Stephen Colley Title of talk: Sustaining San Antonio — Constructing with Innovation and Indigenous Materials About this talk: The idea of living "off-the-grid" is nothing new. "There was a time when everybody was off-the-grid because we didn't have a grid," Architect Stephen Colley quips. As it turns out, our ancestors were ahead of their time regarding many green living practices. Adobe, invented in the Arab-Muslim empire and used to build the first homes, is one of the easiest and most-durable materials ever made. In a wry and amusing way, Colley's talk points out that — in our quest for modern luxury — we humans often make the most ridiculous choices of all. About Stephen Colley: Colley, a South Texas architect and consultant in green design principles, developed the criteria for the Alamo City's residential green building program.
